Many UK Superchargers are open to all electric cars, not just Teslas. Prices vary by site and time of day, with cheaper off-peak rates overnight. Typical rates for non-members are around 60p per kWh at peak times and 35p off-peak. With a Tesla charging membership, they drop to around 41p and 25p.

Non-Tesla drivers start and pay for a session in the Tesla app. Some newer sites also take a payment card at the charger.

What will a charge cost for your car?

Set to the non-member peak rate. Try 35 for off-peak, or 41 and 25 for members.

Adding 36 kWh costs about £21.60

Typical rates per kWh as reported in April 2026. Off-peak is reported as 11pm to 9am. Each site sets its own price, and some charge congestion fees when busy, so always check the Tesla app.

Is the Tesla charging membership worth it?

The membership costs a monthly fee, reported at around £9 to £10, so check the current price in the Tesla app. At peak times it saves about 19p per kWh, so it pays for itself once you charge roughly 50 kWh a month at Superchargers. That's about one and a half big rapid charges.

If you mostly charge at home and only use Superchargers on the odd long trip, it's probably not worth it. If you rely on them every week, it is.

How to use a Supercharger in a non-Tesla

  1. Download the Tesla app, create an account and add a payment card.
  2. Check the app shows the site as open to all electric cars.
  3. Plug in, choose the charger's number in the app and start charging.
  4. Move your car when you're done, as busy sites may charge extra for staying plugged in.
